Ryan Goldade Finds Gold in Victory Lane Wilberg, Ambrose, Padfield and McNamara Also Victorious By John Wells [VL Photos follow recap] (Oregon, WI- Friday, July 9, 2010)- Ryan Goldade piloted his #39 late model to victory lane in the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models on Miller NIte at Madison International Speedway, an ASA member track. Bobby Wilberg won again in the Ho Chunk Gaming Area Sportsman while Todd Ambrose (Club LaMark Hobby Stocks), Kyle Padfield (Roto Rooter Bandits), and Max McNamara (Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends) also were winners. Goldade Races His Way to Victory Lane Ryan Goldade won his first feature of the 2010 season in the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. The twenty-two car field saw Chad Stevens and Johnny Baumeister Jr. showing the way to the green flag. Stevens would gain the early advantage before the first caution flag came out on the second lap for an incident in turn three that resulted in the car of Bobby Wilberg going up into the wall and back to the pits for some minor repairs. After a failed restart that saw three wide action on the backstretch, the field tried again to restart the race. This time Stevens would continue his lead but only for a few laps as Goldade would work his way to the inside of the leader on the inside coming out of turn four on lap 5 and take over the point with Jeremy Miller right behind him in second. Goldade and Miller would lead the way followed by Baumeister Jr., Stevens, and Zach Riddle. On lap 26 Riddle would move past Stevens for fourth as out front Goldade increased his lead to two car lengths over Miller. The leaders would need to work their way through lapped traffic on lap 30 and all were able to survive. Unfortunately for others things would not go so well. Tyler Kelley would see his night end early after making heavy contact with the wall in turn one on lap 34. Another incident would follow on the restart bringing out the caution, but each time Goldade would still be able to maintain his lead over the field after the double file restarts. Adeptly working his way up through the field after going to the back early in the race, Wilberg joined the top five on lap 35 behind Riddle. But Goldade was simply too fast for everyone else as he raced his way to Indian Motorcyles of Chicago Victory Lane with a 0.766 second margin over Miller. Riddle would finish in third followed by Wilberg and Baumeister Jr. Goldades post race interview made reference to the peaks and valleys of racing. I got DQd last week and Im sorry if I disappointed anyone. It doesnt really matter now. The new motor this year has been just great and our guys have been working really hard to get us here, said Goldade. Miller set fast time with a lap of 18.965 with heat races going to Shaun Scheel, Scott Broughton, and Miller.

Wilberg Works His Way to the Top For the third straight week Bobby Wilberg was the winner in the Ho Chunk Gaming Area Sportsman, but tonight wouldnt come without a lot of effort on his part. Russ Nicholson and Tommy Wutke led the eight car field to the green flag in the 15 lap feature. By the time the first lap was completed it would be Mike Taylor jumping out to the lead followed closely by Stephen Scheel. By lap three Robert Hansberry and Wilberg were up to join the mix. What followed was a great four car battle paced by Taylor. Behind the leader, Scheel and Hansberry were fighting it out for second with Hansberry eventually gaining the advantage. On lap 10 Wilberg would slide to the inside of Hansberry to take over the second position. Two laps later Wilberg was up to battle Taylor with the two going side by side until lap 13 when Wilberg cleared Taylor on the outside coming out of turn 3. From there it was all Wilberg as he motored his way to victory lane followed by Scheel, Taylor, Hansberry and Wutke. For Wilberg it was his fourth feature win of the season to go along with two ASA Midwest Sportsman wins at MIS. This was a good race. A lot of side by side racing out front with the two 4 cars. I was racing with the 95 car which was a good show. We finally got by him on the outside and were able to take the lead, said Wilberg. Following his win Wilberg presented his trophy to a young fan in the crowd. Wilberg picked up the clean sweep by setting fast time with a lap of 20.646 and winning the heat race.

Padfield Edges Selsing Jr. for the Win Two feet. That was all the distance Kyle Padfield needed to edge Bobby Selsing Jr. at the stripe to win the 20 lap feature for the Roto Rooter Bandits. Padfield became the second different feature winner in the division in 2010. The race was wild right from the start as Darrell Klug and Eric Long had the honors of bringing the sixteen car field to the green flag. It was a land rush start with cars going four and five wide into the first turn. Klug was able to survive the first lap to hold the lead, but it would be Selsing Jr. and Padfield up to the top two spots on the second lap just before the races first caution came out for a spin on the front stretch. Selsing Jr. and Padfield would continue to lead with Lee Haag up to third followed by Ace and Pat Richgels. On lap 5 Ace would move by Haag to take third while the leaders still were battling it out in front of him. The top five would remain the same working their way up to catch the back of the pack making things on the Ring of Fire get very interesting. On lap 17 Aces night would end after getting together with the lapped car of Jason Coker sending both cars into the inside wall in turn four. With Selsing Jr. still leading, Padfield was ready to make his move and on lap 19 the two were side by side. In the end Padfield would find enough room to get to the inside of Selsing Jr. coming out of turn four on the last lap to win in dramatic fashion by a 0.040 second margin. Haag would finish in third place followed by Richgels and rookie Kenny Storkson. When asked if he thought he had a chance to win with two laps to go Padfield said, It looked doubtful, but we got it done in the end. Selsing is a good driver and I have to hand it to him he ran a good race. Ace set fast time with a lap of 15.416. Heat race wins went to Jason Coker, Selsing Jr., and Ace. Rub Nuti won the twelve lap Last Chance Race.

Ambrose Never Looks Back Todd Ambrose wasted no time tonight as he made his way to the front on the second lap and never looked back to win the 12 lap feature for the Club LaMark Hobby Stocks. Mike Storkson and Don Fassett brought the six car field to the green flag with Fassett getting out to the early lead. But Fassetts lead would be short-lived as Ambrose pulled to the inside of Fassett going into turn one and sprinted by him for the lead coming out of turn two. From this point it was all follow the leader as Fassett would be unable to catch Ambrose who wheeled his way to the checkered flag in the caution-free event. For Ambrose it was his third win in 2010. Rounding out the top three were Terry Ciano Jr.,, Chad Knaus, and Storkson. I was glad Don Fassett opened the door a little bit for me. I like it down here in victory lane, commented Ambrose from victory lane. Ambrose established a new track record in qualifying with a lap of 21.721 while Knaus was the winner in the heat race.

Three in a Row for McNamara Any doubts that Max McNamara wasnt on top of his game in 2010 can be put to rest as the two-time defending champion won for the third straight time tonight. Jeff Lechnir and Dave Wastak brought the twelve car field to the green flag for the 20 lap main event for the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends. Wastak would gain the early upperhand as he got out to the lead followed by Steve Narr and Dave Terrafino. By lap 4 McNamara was up to second and on lap 5 powered his way past Wastak on the outside coming out of turn four to take the lead. On the next lap Kyle Justis, Tommy Jones, and Andy Jones would also get by Wastak to join the pursuit of the leader. A spin on lap 7 brought out the first caution of the night. McNamara would maintain his lead after the race went green with Tommy Jones passing Justis for second on lap 9 just before the second caution flag waved for another spin. McNamara was quick to get back to the lead after the green flag waved and all his fellow competitors could do was watch as he easily made his way to victory lane. Tommy Jones would hold off little brother Andy for second with Justis and Tony Moyer rounding out the top five. After starting tenth and moving quickly up to third McNamara said, I really didnt expect to move up so fast. That was a pretty good run for us. Based on setting fast time with a lap of 14.121 and winning his heat race, McNamara picked up another clean sweep. After returning from an injury, Wastak was able to earn a checkered flag by winning his heat race.
