MIS Hosts Faster Pastor Race on June 25th

Oregon, WI (Saturday, June 19, 2010)- Madison International Speedway in known for hosting a wide variety of racing divisions over the years, but none is as unique as what fans will see on Friday, June 25th when twelve area pastors and chaplains take to the famed “Ring of Fire” in a special racing event. The high flying pastors will join a full racing program that consists of the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models, Ho Chunk Area Sportsman, Club LaMark Hobby Stocks, Roto Rooter Bandits, and Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends and will be part of Construction Labor Management Night at the track.

This year’s event is hosted by Madison International Speedway, Coker Motorsports, Team Jesus Racing Ministry, Capital Chaplains and Life 102.5 Corporate sponsors include Pellitteri Waste Systems, Ganser Company, and Midwest Patrol and Investigative (MPI). Donations from the event will also be made to the Oregon Food Pantry.

Twelve area pastors and chaplains have been invited to race in this event. There will be two, eight lap heat races featuring six cars each with the top three from each race advancing to the main event which is scheduled for twelve laps. The drivers will be racing Bandit cars from the weekly Roto Rooter Bandit division.

This year’s tentative driver list includes the following:

Chaplain Joe Short representing: Midwest Patrol & Investigative (MPI) and Capital Chaplains.
Pastor Mickey Best representing: Point of Grace Church, A&J Specialty Services, Dane Manufacturing, and Capital Chaplains.
Pastor Jorge Hernandez representing: Pentescostal Avivamiento Internacional Church, Ganser Company, and Capital Chaplains
Chaplain Terry Erickson representing: Coyle Carpet and Capital Chaplains
Father Mike Tess representing: Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Sun Prairie
Pastor Craig Jarvis representing: Memorial Baptist Church, Verona
Youth Ministry Leader Brandon Courts representing: High Point Church and High Point Christian School, Madison
Pastor Doug Van Essen: representing Crossroads Church, Madison
Ministry Leader Rob Knight representing: InterVarsity

Pit gates on June 25th open at 3:30 with hot laps at 4:45, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.
