Here Comes Joe (Solem)

Joe Solem of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, will be competing in his first season at MIS as a rookie in the Roto Rooter Bandits. He will be driving the #87 sponsored by Kozy Kids Koral in Cottage Grove.

It was a trip to MIS that got Joe interested in running a bandit. “Joe Dimagio is a huge reason for me getting into racing. I came to the track with him a few times last year and was hooked. Being we are good friends off the track, we decided to be just as good of friends on the track. We will both do whatever we can to help each other out whenever needed. We have nicknamed ourselves, The Joe and Joe Nissan Show,” said Solem.

Solem added, “So far my goals for this season are to be competitive and be in the top five in feature races. I also look forward to getting to know all the other drivers and I hope to be someone that people feel comfortable coming to for advice and constructive criticism. Also, I would like to learn as much as I can all year so I can maybe build another car for next year and pass this car on to my little brother.”

As for the first time at MIS in early May he noted, “It was my first time out on the track, but in a few short hours I learned a lot about my car and the track itself. I ran four different times that day and improved my lap times by three seconds over the course of the day. I hope to improve even more over the season.”

Solem wants to thank his father, Russ, sponsors and friends for helping him make his racing dream possible.
