Wilberg Back Home in Victory Lane at MIS
Rubeck, Kalbus, Scheel, and Arelano Take Home Checkered Flags

Oregon, WI (Friday, June 27, 2008)-- Great racing combined with an incredible fireworks show made the Boucher Group Night a memorable experience for all involved at Madison International Speedway. A great crowd was on hand to see racing in all five weekly divisions along with the annual fireworks extravaganza presented by Thunder Cat.

Defending champion Bobby Wilberg was back home in victory lane for the first time in 2008 after taking top honors in the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models. Steve Rubeck in the Weaver Auto Parts Super Late Models, Jay Kalbus in the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Stephen Scheel in the Roto Rooter Bandits, and Alex Arelano in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends were also winners.

Wilberg Best in Limited Late Models

Bobby Wilberg started fifteenth in the eighteen car field and still won the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models and extended his point lead in the division.

Rookie Tyler Kelley and Cliff Rucks led the field of eighteen cars to the green flag with Kelley taking the early lead. The caution flag came out on lap 2 for a backstretch spin that sent both Nathan Oppliger and rookie Ross Kenseth to the rear of the field.

Kelley was able to maintain his lead until lap 7 when last week's feature winner Brady Liddle dropped to the low side of the track on the front stretch to pass both Kelley and Rucks. Driving a different car than what he won in last week, Liddle looked strong and started to check away from the field before a caution flag came out on lap 12 for a spin. The spin sent the second and third place cars of Rucks and Scott McGettigan to the back of the pack and moved up Ryan Miles, Wilberg, Chad Stevens, and Ryan Goldade into the top five.

After the green flag waved again Liddle would continue to be the dominant car on the track until the caution flag waved again when Andy Evraets made heavy contact with the backstretch wall coming out of turn two.

Liddle would be able to maintain his lead, but Wilberg had other plans and cut the distance between the two with each lap. By lap 25 Wilberg was right on Liddle's bumper and one lap later would make the pass for the lead and never look back.

With Wilberg out front, Liddle would have his hands full trying to hold on to his second place position. On lap 35 he surrendered that position to Stevens and dropped to fourth when passed by Goldade. Meanwhile, Kenseth, who had been sent to the rear of the field earlier, had worked his way all the way back to fifth.

Wilberg's victory meant that there have now been five different feature winners in five races this season.

Wilberg set fast time in the division with a lap of 18.964. It was his second fast time of the season in the division. Andrew Kulka won the third round of the Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash Series and became the third different winner.

Official Results:

Feature:1. Bobby Wilberg (Beloit, WI), 2. Chad Stevens (Orfordville, WI), 3. Ryan Goldade (Stoughton, WI), 4. Brady Liddle (Oregon, WI), 5. Ross Kenseth (Spring Valley, IL), 6. Fast Qualifier: Bobby Wilberg

Two in a Row for Rubeck

Steve Rubeck held off a hard charging Bobby Wilberg to win his second feature in as many weeks and third of the season in the Weaver Auto Parts Super Late Model 40 lap feature. Rubeck's margin of victory was just 0.189 seconds.

Kyle Kinder and Kevin Tunks brought the field of ten cars to the green flag with the early advantage going to Kinder. Kinder would lead the first fifteen circuits before the caution flag came out for a spin on the backstretch.

Following the restart Tunks would be able to overtake Kinder for the lead with Rubeck quickly up to second. On lap 22 Rubeck was in prime position to go for the lead and made his move to the inside of Tunks coming out of turn four and took the lead.

On lap 25 Wilberg was able to power by Tunks for second. On lap 29, Rubeck held a six car lead over Wilberg. With each lap Wilberg was able to erase some of Rubeck's lead and by lap 35 he had really closed the gap. On lap 37 the lead was down to just one car length. Did Wilberg have enough time? Could Rubeck hold him off?

On lap 39 Wilberg was right on Rubeck's bumper and everything was in place for yet another dramatic finish. But the clock would run out on Wilberg and Rubeck would return to victory lane once again in the Weaver Auto Parts Super Late Models. Rounding out the top five behind Rubeck and Wilberg would be Nathan Haseleu, Andrew Morrissey, and Tunks.

Wilberg was fast qualifier for the second time this year with a lap of 17.761.

Official Results:

Feature:1. Steve Rubeck (Monroe Center, IL), 2. Bobby Wilberg (Beloit, WI), 3. Nathan Haseleu (Pardeeville, WI), 4. Andrew Morrissey (DeForest, WI), 5. Kevin Tunks (Indianford, WI), 6. Dan Lensing (Poplar Grove, IL), 7. Shane Morrissey (Cuba City, WI), 8. Frank Kreyer (Wisconsin Dells, WI), 9. Kyle Kinder (McFarland, WI), 10. Zach Reining (Forreston, IL),

Fast Qualifier: Bobby Wilberg

Kalbus Returns to Victory Lane

Jay Kalbus returned to victory lane by winning the 15 lap feature for the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman.

Leading the field to the green flag were TJ Goldade and Steve Dickson with the two battling it out for the lead. On lap 5 Goldade drifted up the track coming out of turn one which opened the door for Kalbus who wasted no time in grabbing the lead.

Quickly up to challenge Kalbus was last week's feature winner Darrell Garman. A lengthy caution of lap 10 for fluid on the track didn't seem to hurt Kalbus as he picked up right where he left off once the green flag came out again.

Kalbus would cruise to victory followed by Garman, Dickson, Russ Nicholson, and Scott Lawver. The win would be Kalbus' third of the season.

Mike Heelein set fast time for the fourth time this season with a lap of 20.729.

Official Results:

Feature:1. Jay Kalbus (Watertown, WI), 2. Darrell Garman (Machesney Park, IL), 3. Steve Dickson (Rockton, IL), 4. Russ Nicholson (Stoughton, WI), 5. Scott Lawver (Roscoe, IL), 6. Mike Heelein (Oregon, WI), 7. TJ Goldade (Stoughton, WI),

Fast Qualifier: Mike Heelein

Scheel Seals the Deal in Bandits

After appearing to be headed to victory lane one week ago only to be denied, Stephen Scheel came to MIS determined to get to victory lane and did so tonight in the 25 lap feature for the Roto Rooter Bandits.

Brandon Skolaski and Kyle Padfield paced the field of nine Bandits to the green flag. Skolaski would lead the first three laps before Padfield pulled alongside him on lap 4. With Skolaski suddenly off the pace and his fellow competitors checking up behind him, Padfield would be able to build a solid lead.

By lap 12 Cory Skolaski was up to the challenge and ready to battle Padfield for the top spot. At this point it appeared that one of these two young drivers was ready to head to victory lane for the first time. On lap 17 Skolaski was looking to the inside of Padfield coming out of turn one and the two made contact bringing out the caution flag. Unfortunately for the two leaders it meant a trip to the back of the field and thus ended their hopes of getting to victory lane.

Being the right man in the right place, Scheel would now inherit the lead followed by Kyle Stark and Chester Ace. But tonight there would be no denying Scheel as he raced to the checkered flag followed by Ace, Cory Skolaski, and Padfield.

Scheel is the fourth different feature winner in the Bandits in 2008.

Fast time was set by Ace with a lap of 15.723. Ace has now set fast time on three occasions in 2008.

Official Results:

Feature:1. Stephen Scheel (Lake Mills, WI), 2. Chester Ace (Oregon, WI), 3. Cory Skolaski (Fitchburg, WI), 4. Kyle Padfield (Stoughton, WI), 5. Jody Schmidt (Belleville, WI), 6. Tom Bleecker (Watertown, WI), 7. Ryan Slater (Brooklyn, WI), 8. Kyle Stark (Waterloo, WI), 9. Brandon Skolaski (Fitchburg, WI),

Fast Qualifier: Chester Ace

Arelano Outduels McNamara to Win Legends

Alex Arelano picked up victory number four of the season by winning the 25 lap feature for the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends.

Aaron Moyer and Adam Rawski led the seven car field to the green flag with Moyer the early leader followed by Dave Townsend and Arelano.

On lap 5 Arelano got by Moyer on the inside coming out of turn four to take the lead. On lap 6 a spinning car brought out the caution and one lap later McNamara would move past Moyer for the second spot.

McNamara was quickly right up on the bumper of Arelano and the two would remain that way for the rest of the race. McNamara looked high and low but just wouldn't have enough to make it two in a row as Arelano proved to be superior tonight. Following Arelano and McNamara at the stripe were Hermann Greinig who passed Moyer for third on the last lap, and Townsend.

Fast time was set by McNamara with a lap of 14.123.

Official Results:

Feature:1. Alex Arelano (Frankfort, IL), 2. Max McNamara (Ingleside, IL), 3. Herman Greinig (Addison, IL), 4. Aaron Moyer (Eden, WI), 5. Dave Townsend (Sugar Grove, IL), 6. Adam Rawski (Winfield, IL), 7. Tim Rawski (Winfield, IL),

Fast Qualifier: Max McNamara
